My Year has 12 Weeks now!
Lately, I’ve been using the 12 Week Year system by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington to plan and execute my business tasks, and it’s been a game-changer.
Instead of the usual 12-month goals, this approach condenses everything into 12-week periods, which ramps up focus and productivity. The logic? Shorter timeframes create urgency and eliminate procrastination. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Shorter Timeframes: With only 12 weeks to hit your goals, you’re forced to focus on what truly matters.
Clarity and Focus: Each 12-week period has clear, measurable goals that keep you from getting lost in the weeds.
Weekly Accountability: Regular check-ins keep you on track, allowing for quick adjustments when needed.
Execution is Everything: Success comes from consistent action, not just goal-setting. It’s all about showing up and doing the work.
Time Blocking: Scheduling specific blocks for key tasks helps protect your focus and productivity.
Measure Progress: Tracking results and adjusting your plan is key for continuous improvement over the 12 weeks.
This structure has worked wonders for me. My To-Do lists now feature 12-week projects with specific goals that keep me moving forward. Sure, I’m not obsessed with scoring myself weekly, but I do reflect on what I’ve achieved and what’s still lingering.
My goals for the next 12 weeks.
In fact, writing this post was on this week’s list—so here I am, checking it off on a Sunday!
The real beauty of the 12-week system is that it keeps you accountable without overwhelming you. Twelve weeks is just enough time to make serious progress without losing steam over a full year. It’s motivating, practical, and (so far) super effective.
Now, that’s not to say I haven’t had to shuffle things around. One of my big projects got pushed back, but hey, I’m still learning! And delaying that project freed up time to crush the others, so I count it as a win. Yay me!

Thanks for reading, and as always,
Stay productive and playful!
